Publisher's Note
Abstract
This Publisher’s Note introduces the Journal of Geoeconomics and situates its launch within the growing need for rigorous, peer-reviewed scholarship on the strategic use of economic power. It sets out the Journal’s mission to advance open access research and analysis in geoeconomics, reflects on the development of the Journal and its inaugural volume, and underscores the importance of building scholarly infrastructure for an empirical and cumulative field of knowledge. It concludes by acknowledging the editors, authors, reviewers, advisers, colleagues, institutions, and wider community whose support, engagement, and encouragement have informed the Journal’s development and inaugural volume.

Author Biography
D. Matthew Millar
D. Matthew Millar is the Founder and Publisher of the Journal of Geoeconomics. He is a scholar-practitioner whose research and applied pursuits focus on geoeconomics, strategic competition, economic security, and the use of economic instruments in statecraft. His broader areas of focus include public–private cooperation, institutional capacity-building, resilience, and capability development. He is an elected member of the IISS, Chatham House, the Royal Economic Society, and RUSI.
Editorial Independence
The Journal of Geoeconomics maintains editorial independence. Editorial decisions, including peer review, revision, acceptance, and rejection, are made independently by the Editor-in-Chief and editorial team in accordance with the Journal’s editorial policies, peer-review standards, and principles consistent with COPE guidelines.
